We are looking for a Director of Performance Marketing for our office in Berlin! 


Your mission as a Director of Performance Marketing will be to grow Babbel’s footprint in over 160 countries worldwide. You will be helping all language learners from Greenland to New Zealand learn foreign languages.


You will:


  • Be the champion of user acquisition & marketing efficiency within the company
  • Lead a team of over 40 Performance Marketers who run all owned & paid user acquisition activities for Babbel in over 160 countries
  • Define Babbel’s commercial strategy together with the CMO
  • Develop Babbel’s user acquisition & marketing tech strategies
  • Coach and develop each direct report (each leading teams of their own)
  • Ensure Babbel’s revenue and efficiency targets are met together with the International Growth, CRM & Brand teams
  • Drive performance marketing innovation and create an environment of experimentation
  • Collaborate effectively and resolve blockers across the company with stakeholders like Controlling, Analytics, Product, etc.
  • Report directly to the CMO, part of the leadership team

You have:


  • 8+ years of experience in online marketing, offline media buying and marketing technology
  • 5+ years of experience directly leading a (large) team, including hiring, developing and motivating employees
  • Full fluency in spoken and written English. Language learning passion is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal & leadership skills and strategic thinking
  • Solid analytical skills and finance understanding
  • Online marketing experience across multiple channels is a cornerstone including marketing technology trends & vendor landscape.
  • Focus on B2C is a must. Previous experience with a subscription business model is a plus.
  • Team player with an entrepreneurial start-up attitude, hands-on mentality, high motivation and willingness to learn.
