About the Role:


As the Email Marketing Manager, you will report to and work closely with our Senior CRM Manager in developing, maintaining, and executing our entire life-cycle strategy. You will also collaborate with our international CRM team based in Berlin, Germany.


Email is a key driver in converting our leads and retaining our subscribers. You’ll play a major role in helping us reach our ambitious goals in driving engagement, conversion and retention. You’ll be responsible for engaging Babbel users at the top of the funnel and driving sales growth at the bottom of the funnel by developing and deploying creative CRM solutions encompassing both email and Push. You will maintain our existing email marketing strategy and build out new programs with an eye toward lead nurturing, life-cycle messaging, subscriber growth, churn prevention, and LTV improvement.


If you are a talented email enthusiast with a love of languages who can creatively tell a story based on data, read on! With a proven e-commerce track record, you prefer to test, segment, and personalize rather than “batch-and-blast.” You know email best practices but would prefer to push the limits of what’s possible (safely). We’re a collaborative bunch and you’re looking forward to working on a tight-knit team.


Specific Duties Include:


  • Working closely with the Sr. Manager to develop and execute a high-volume lifecycle email marketing strategy
  • Identifying, taking ownership of, and executing new programs that will accelerate Babbel’s US sales growth
  • Creating and executing data-driven, segmented, personalized, dynamic campaigns delivered to the right people at the right time
  • Planning and maintaining the email calendar with stakeholders, ensuring timely delivery of flawless campaigns
  • Testing, testing, testing! Focusing on continuous improvement by iterating and optimizing existing emails/automations

Key Requirements Are:


  • 3+ years of email marketing experience with a high-volume retail- or subscription-based business
  • Experience working with ESPs to build out campaigns and automations (MailChimp, Constant Contact, etc. do not count)
  • Must know HTML, email best practices, and CAN-SPAM
  • Self-motivated, organized, with strong analytical skills
  • Passionate about emails and making work fun
  • Collaborative, bold, industrious, curious, a thought-leader, an “A-player”.
  • And most importantly you have an exquisite attention to detail!
