About the Role:


As our Front-end Software Engineer, you will be self-motivated, full of ideas as well as energy, and help shape the engineering of Babbel’s marketing efforts in the US.


In this role you will not just write code; you will be a key player in the growth and engagement of our customer base. Our ideal candidate is a fast, thorough, and versatile front-end coder with good judgement and a strong command of coding fundamentals. We’re looking to bring on board a critical thinker who has a “growth-hacking” passion for rapid testing, iterating, and learning.


More broadly, we are looking for smart, passionate engineers who can share in our goal of widening access to language learning. You care about maintaining a clean code base and strive for technical excellence in the build of our product. Above all else, you are always personally learning and developing, and you have the maturity and skill base to make timely and sustainable individual contributions. Excellent verbal and written English skills are a must.


Responsibilities:


  • Implementation (coding), deployment, and refinement of marketing executions
  • React (w/Redux) component creation and maintenance for the Babbel Magazine
  • Ideally, can support the Node.js instance powering isomorphic rendering
  • Creation of A/B tests including landing pages, content, and email flows
  • Integration of third-party tools and services
  • Ensure proper tracking of online marketing campaigns
  • Collaborate with designers and marketers, bringing their designs to life on the web
  • Bonus: Write SQL queries to gather and analyze data

Requirements:


  • 2+ years coding experience, preferably in a start-up/digital environment
  • Self-starter with entrepreneurial spirit who is used to working in small and agile teams, enjoys responsibility, and has the know-how to get stuff done
  • Solid understanding of website accessibility, compatibility, and usability, including cross-platform, email client, and web browser issues
  • Good knowledge of the marketing landscape including the tech side
  • Experience with major marketing tools and technologies such as tracking services, landing page optimization, and ESPs
  • Analytical mindset with a fluency in statistical measurement of marketing campaigns
  • Ability to travel to Berlin, Germany semi-annually including for a week+ at the beginning of your tenure
  • Bonus: multi-lingual with a strong understanding of Spanish dialects in the USA
