In the Engineering team we are inspired by the fact that anyone anywhere at anytime can use our products to learn languages. To support this vision, we are growing rapidly, and scaling up a new world-class team in our Berlin office. We are looking for a Principal Automation Engineer (m/f) to join us! We promote an open, inclusive culture that supports learning and encourages collaboration in the Engineering Department

Does this describe you?

• I have +8 years of software QA testing and automation experience mainly leading in an agile development environment.
• I have deep knowledge of various testing methodologies and am highly experienced with the implementation of test automation software.
• I have solid knowledge of testing techniques to determine the appropriate number of test iterations and apply risk-based testing concepts.
• I have the ability to communicate directly and clearly with a strong emphasis on careful listening
• I have previous exposure to making business-level trade-offs balancing the needs of our customers with those of our business and clearly communicating the rationale behind your decisions.
• I have a strong sense of quality ownership making sure that quality is baked in from the start.
• I have good instincts matched with deep analytical thinking and planning. I am comfortable defining and tracking key success metrics, but also recognise that metrics never tell the whole story.
• I have a real passion to understand customer needs and a strong motivation to tackle their problems rather than focusing on technology as an end in itself.
• I have effective interpersonal skills, confidence, empathy, and respect

What you can be doing at Babbel

• Developing, establishing, and enforcing modern quality assurance automation, processes, standards, and measures for software engineering.
• Leading the development, establishment, and enforcement of quality assurance KPI’s and best practices for new and existing applications.
• Promoting and fostering knowledge regarding test automation within our engineering teams in order to build up confidence and familiarity in this area of expertise.
• Communicating QA status and partner with stakeholders, developers and product owners to help make decisions on production readiness.
• Providing regular direction, mentoring and coaching to those seeking support with test automation and its implementation.
• Together we can build trust and powerful QA environment
