Job Description

BlaBlaCar is launching a new business line that is set to fuel tremendous growth for the company. By joining the new BlaBlaCar Pro team, you will have the unique opportunity of joining a new vertical at BlaBlaCar and of helping us become the #1 destination for road transport. We are looking for someone who has the motivation to join a truly entrepreneurial adventure and the skills to turn BlaBlaCar Pro into a world-class technical platform and product!

Within the BlaBlaCar Pro team, you’ll be building the heart of our new technical platform dedicated to our bus transport partners. We are building a brand-new ecosystem based on a service oriented architecture that aims at helping bus transport professionals to manage their offers and quality of their service on our marketplace.    

As Senior Engineer, you will lead the design of our solutions, making sure they are robust and scalable. You’ll contribute to the development of new features, you’ll mentor younger engineers and bring technical expertise to our product and business experts.

What you will directly contribute to:

• Reporting to the Engineering Manager, in a team of 5 engineers (to date) and working in close collaboration with Program managers, Product Managers and UX designers

• Being in charge of tech solution choices, from architecture design to effective delivery and daily operations in production

• Spending more than half of your time as an individual engineering contributor within the team

• Driving the developments and animating the software lifecycle  

• Fostering positive atmosphere around excellence and ambitious goals in the team

Qualifications

What you will need to be successful:

• 7+ years of experience in engineering teams within hyper-growth tech companies

• Good track record of technical projects

• Master JAVA (Spring Framework) and eager to constantly learn new technologies

• Experience in Service Oriented Architecture ecosystem as well as technologies such as PHP/Symfony2, KafKa, ElasticSearch, GRPC/Protobuf is a plus

• Practical knowledge of ops tools (monitoring, deployment, containers, linux…) and willingness to contribute in building a true DevOps environment

• Comfortable with change, uncertainty and a high velocity environment, experience of agile methods

• Hands-on, pragmatic and collaborative attitude

• Fluent in spoken and written English, proficiency French is a plus
