We are currently looking to expand our EU Finance team in our Berlin office and are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager (m/f/d). The right candidate is excited to be part of a successful venture-backed consumer brand and is eager to take on an array of responsibilities.

When you’re not catching zzz’s, this is what you’ll do
- Lead a team of two Accountants, investing in the development and growth of the team
- Participate in monthly general ledger and financial closing process for European entities, including preparing and/or approving journal entries, reconciling assigned accounts, and reviewing and analyzing assigned Financial Statements
- Ensure close process is well coordinated and executed in accordance with the monthly closing checklist. Ensure proper revenue and expense cut off procedures
- Coordinate and prepare monthly departmental accruals (Supply Chain, Marketing, and other departments) with analysis
- Provide insightful, value added analytics to ensure all entries are recorded properly and errors or anomalies are identified, addressed and communicated in a timely manner
- Reconcile ERP sub-ledgers to the General Ledger
- Enforce and implement key internal controls
- Provide guidance to Accounting team on invoice coding, T&E processing, and month-end close processes
- Assist with the preparation and filing of VAT returns, revenue and receivable reconciliation, and the month end fixed asset process
- Manage financial audits from government entities as well as internal control reviews
- Support in any statutory or group audit requirements
- Assist in the development and implementation of internal processes and controls
- Lead adhoc projects as assigned
- Create development plans to self and EU finance team to ensure continued professional development
- Report to the VP Global Control and Treasurer, based in NY, with a dotted line to the General Manager of the EU
- Has 6+ years work experience including 2-3 years as an Auditor at an international accounting firm working on public companies as well as start-up experience (prior experience with an E-commerce and/or manufacturing entity is a plus)
- Has a degree in Economics, corporate finance, business, or another relevant field, a Masters is a plus
- Has sound knowledge of US GAAP & German GAAP (HGB), French and UK GAAP are a big plus
- Has sound knowledge of European tax legislation
- Has experience in all areas of accounting
- Has exposure to a SOX environment and to large ERP systems
- Has excellent skills in both German and English, other EU languages a bonus
- Is willing to extend themselves and assist other people
- Has expertise in financial controls
- Is highly experienced and competent in working with Excel
- Has strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Has good planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work
- Has strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Is able to work in a dynamic environment
- Has an absolutely hands-on and a “no task is too small” mentality
