About the team

Funding Circle’s Credit Risk team is hugely influential to our overall lending process. They look at measuring our risk, optimising our credit risk funnel and forecasting the performance of our loan portfolios. To do this, they work globally with the credit risk modelling, engineering, data management, capital markets and business operations teams to truly understand our objectives and shape analytical solutions.

As a Senior Credit Manager you will...

  • Deliver value for Investors and Funding Circle through optimization of the credit lifecycle management:
  • Shape and lead thinking on lending, collection and recovery strategies
  • In partnership with the Operational Teams and with attention to efficiency and quality, implement, monitor and measure the success of those strategies
  • Work the linkage between operational execution and investor’s value. Deliver plans and the underlying operational targets to achieve them.
  • Think up new credit strategies and support in shaping them analytically with attention to details. Measure impacts and be open to iterate.
  • Be an excellent communicator and presenter. Turn complex analysis into simply articulated visions / insights.
  • Conduct rigorous statistical analysis, forecasting and data mining of various datasets to shape and guide decision-making across a number of strategic areas
  • Identify, develop and maintain key relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Have a clear and relentless focus on delivering business results

    About the role

    Would you describe yourself as a data fanatic? Do you have a passion for analysing and visualising data to help your company make better decisions faster? If you answer yes to these questions then we're looking for you to apply! We are looking for an experienced Data Analyst to help drive the use of data across the company. You’ll help by:

  • Channel Analytics: Analyse borrower selection and conversion from loan prospecting to completion across multiple channels and prospect audiences with a view to optimising income, originations and return on investment
  • Use advanced statistical analysis to design testing and predictive models whilst creating and improving on best practices to be used across the Funding Circle analytics community
  • Business & Product Insights: Recommend optimal business strategies based on historical performance, predictive analytics and scenario analysis
  • Build global frameworks that are scalable across markets and help to drive business outcomes & portfolio performance
  • Work closely with partner teams across business and risk to ensure analytical outputs meet stakeholder expectations
  • Communicate analytical outcomes effectively to wide variety of internal and external constituents
  • About You

  • Hold exceptional analytical skills with a degree in a quantitative field like BS/MS mathematics, statistics, economics, engineering or an MBA
  • Has commercial experience in an analytics role in a technology, fintech or financial services organization 
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of drivers of performance optimization and/or credit performance of portfolio
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Will demonstrate strong Machine learning/AI experience along with proficiency in analytical tools like Excel VBA, Tableau, SAS/SQL, R and Python

    Day to Day, this role will include:

  • Collaborating as part of an agile cross functional team, as well as technology chapters
  • Building great user experiences for customers
  • Delivering innovation through software to automate processes that enable Funding Circle to operate at scale
  • Using Clojure, Kafka, React and Ruby currently and built entirely on AWS

    This roles requires someone who has:

  • Strong experience in at least one major coding language (E.g. Java, Javascript, C#, Python, Clojure, Ruby, Scala, Go)
  • Strong fundamental programming skills (data structures, algorithms)
  • Familiarity developing on Unix/Linux

    Financial Analyst - Reconciliations

    We are looking for a Financial Analyst - Reconciliations to join the Investor Services Team focusing in the Financial Operations area at Funding Circle US. This position is based in Denver and is a contract for up to 6 months. The key purpose of this role is to work on a project within the reconciliation team as we build out the system to automate the daily reconciliation process. This role will involve the individual working closely with many teams across the business, including Finance, Loan Closing, Collection & Service, Payment Operations and Capital Markets Operations.
    Key responsibilities include:

  • Carry out reconciliations of client money bank accounts and system ledgers, ensuring any issues are raised immediately
  • Liaising with payment operations and various teams across the business to investigate transactions within client accounts and ledgers
  • Collaborating with the Financial Operations colleagues and other teams to develop new reconciliation processes as well as identify improvements to current processes
  • Updating documentation outlining the reconciliation processes
  • Identify deficiency and risks in operations and escalate to line manager
  • Be responsible for scoping and troubleshooting ad-hoc operational issues as they occur
  • Work closely with product and technology to identify features and contribute to the development of the automatching system and reporting. 
  • Liaising with product and tech teams on any system changes and user acceptance testing
  • Ad-hoc project work
  • Our ideal teammate has:

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or other quantitative discipline
  • 3+ years of experience with an emphasis in reconciliations
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Experience in Finance or Accounting and working with auditors
  • Experience with multiple financial systems and comfort navigating and learning systems quickly
  • Is able to self direct and who can work under tight deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Excellent numerical skills, enjoys working with data and solving problems
  • Strong attention to detail and determination with a high level of accuracy
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Honesty and discretion when handling confidential financial information
  • A team-player who is proactive, with excellent communication skills both oral and written
