Business Development Manager, Berlin.

An exciting and high-performing sales channel, our Partnership Team are looking for an accomplished Business Development Manager to build our presence in Germany. You will develop and implement a strategy to establish and nurture intermediary-referred SME borrowers.

To drive the growth of our partnership network, you will be a self-starting hunter BDM with a keen eye for untapped opportunities.

This is a phenomenal opportunity for someone with a real passion for building, developing and maximising business relationships, and being part of disruptive innovation in financial services.

What will you be responsible for?

  • Establishing a network of partners in Berlin that can introduce potential SME Borrowers to the Funding Circle credit platform
  • Searching for, acquiring and building new relationships with potential partners in the region including commercial finance brokers, accountants and tax advisors through your existing network, face-to-face, telephone, LinkedIn and email
  • Building Funding Circle’s presence with SMEs in the region through outreach activities including engagement with local business networks and attendance at conferences and events
  • Helping to develop and implement the team acquisition strategy, including which relationships and networks to target, in what order, and how, and assist with campaign/event planning

What will you bring to the role?

  • Proven business development/sales experience in financial services - face-to-face sales experience is essential
  • Excellent relationship building and written and oral communication skills (ability to lead and control a phone discussion/negotiation/closing)
  • Both a hunter and farmer, with an appetite to build long-lasting relationships from the start
  • Motivated by success in numbers, and driven to achieve your targets
  • Experience explaining complex products or services to businesses and introducers
  • Strong presentation and organisational skills, with a flexible attitude 
  • Fluent German and English, both written and spoken, are essential

Preferred experience:

  • Experience working with brokerages or intermediaries with access to SMEs
  • It would be great if you’ve worked with a lending product before
  • Presence of an existing network of relevant business contacts
  • Experience of event planning and attendance
