Senior Legal Counsel - Capital Markets, London

As a Senior Legal Counsel you will provide legal advice and support to:

• Advise on design, negotiation, drafting and execution of public and private direct lending funds
• Advise on marketing, distribution and sales of fund related products and regulatory matters related to investment advisory services
• Instruct and manage outside counsel as needed and collaborate with other members of Funding Circle global legal team
• General support to drive strategic initiatives, including the deployment of products, policies and solutions developed in the Global Capital Markets team based in London but also working with offices in Berlin, Amsterdam and San Francisco

You’ve been there and done this…

• 4 - 7 years post qualification legal experience in asset management, investment advisory, direct lending or credit funds (including in any of Irish, Lux, Cayman, Channel Islands or Delaware domiciled funds or US BDCs)
• Expertise in public and private fund establishment, investment advisory or asset management, including review or drafting of all related documentation and day-to-day support
• Good knowledge of regulatory issues relating to investment funds, direct lending or credit fund activities, including AIFMD, MIFID, marketing, sales and distribution
• Awareness of tax, accounting and operational structures in relation to credit funds
• Combination of law firm and in-house experience a plus
• Ability to think commercially in relation to legal issues and provide solutions
• Good strategic thinker – ability to contribute to the strategic development of the Capital Markets business and the wider Funding Circle business
• Strong interpersonal skills – ability to build consensus in a matrixed environment
• Proven ability building trusting working relationships while maintaining independence
• European language skills would be an added bonus!
