The Role        

This is an exciting opportunity to join an innovative, high-growth, fast-paced and market-changing global business. Funding Circle’s multi-award winning UK legal team is looking to recruit a capable and ambitious all-rounder who can make a real and positive contribution to the continued success of the legal team and the wider company. The role is varied and you will have exposure to a wide range of interesting work across the business.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts (including partnership agreements, marketing agreements and technology, cloud services and outsourcing contracts);
  • Advising the business (including our data, marketing and analytics teams) on a variety of data protection issues, including GDPR readiness, ongoing data compliance, data security and data subject rights;
  • Providing strategic legal advice as our business in the UK grows and evolves and as we expand our international reach;
  • Staying abreast of relevant changes in law and regulation and applying them to our business;
  • Providing legal support across our business as issues arise, ranging from employment law questions to digital marketing advice.

The Candidate

  • *Qualified solicitor with 1-2 years' post-qualification experience.
  • Likely to have trained and be working in a top law firm or in a respected in-house team.
  • Excellent academics with strong and proven technical legal skills.
  • Good knowledge of data privacy legislation and strong experience applying it in practice.
  • Strong transactional experience with a focus on drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Highly organised with strong problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to advise the business confidently and succinctly, and to develop good working relationships.
  • A goal-oriented team player with the drive, flexibility and willingness to learn new things and the ability to work both autonomously and within a tight-knit team environment.
  • The ability to work to tight timelines and explain and interpret complex legal and regulatory issues to a non-legal audience.
