The Borrower Sales Team is seeking an experienced, hard-working, and motivated salesperson to build relationships with small business owners by bringing them back into our application process through funding. The goal: To fund borrowers who have dropped out of our funnel previously.

Each member of this team is passionate about small businesses, entrepreneurship, and building a better financial world. This is strictly an outbound sales role, which will require consistent contact strategies to be successful, both which are taught and learned in the role.  You will be interacting with hundreds of small business owners on a weekly basis, speaking to them about their business operations and current challenges, why they need financing, and how a Funding Circle loan can help them achieve their goals.

  • Re-engage with our borrowers via phone and email: Understand the reason(s) our borrowers choose to stop our application process with their original Account Manager.  Consult and learn from our borrowers their specific hesitations and market trends that keep them searching for capital with other financing institutions.
  • Educate our borrowers on alternative financing and our brand.  Build excitement around the potential to build a long-term relationship with us.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with credit team to understand the intricacies of each application and the ultimate decision that you will need to effectively communicate back to the small business owner.
  • Fund the business: you will be evaluated by a quota for total dollars originated monthly.

Required skills and experience

  • Enthusiasm to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment that spans multiple geographies.
  • Past outbound sales experience and interest in growing this new channel of the business.
  • Willingness to work very hard, get creative and be goal-oriented.  To be successful in the role, you need to be outgoing and maintain a consistent work ethic.  Our best outbound reps are making 60-80 dials per day, at minimum, to re-engage this population of potential borrowers.
  • You’re tasked with handling objections - you must be resilient, positive, and a great representation of our brand.
  • Excellent organizational skills and pipeline management.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: weekly meetings with our marketing and commercial teams to share learnings.
  • Strong interest in financial technology sector and the growing online lending space.
