RUBY ENGINEER

Salary: £52,000 - £57,000

We list some technologies below that we expect you to have demonstrable experience of, but fundamentally we look for people who are passionate about developing great systems. You need to love Ruby but, if you are not a polyglot, you’ll be an exception in the team. We’re looking for people who will join us in building a global platform, who are looking to be challenged and who are able to embrace responsibility. We have major projects kicking off all the time and a very ambitious roadmap. We are serious about helping you grow in your career and in our commitment to Test Driven Development (TDD) and Extreme Programming (XP) practices.

Work across our entire set of subsystems and third party integrations.
Work with the product team to enhance and improve upon our existing codebase in delivering features to address business needs.
Use your proven Software development skills to allow you to participate in our process from design, writing code, fixing defects, reviewing pull requests, continuously deploying and writing documentation
Work within an agile team using Test Driven Development (TDD) & Behaviour Driven Development (BDD)

The Candidate

Have proven experience of working professionally in Large Ruby on Rails codebases.
Experience in a FinTech environment would be a considerable advantage.
Good understanding of OO programming principles and solid computer science knowledge.
A belief that it’s a ridiculous idea that a software developer would not use version control.
Worked within an agile framework.
Proven experience using a testing framework, preferably Rspec as part of your work process, not as an afterthought.
Knowledge of databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) along with the abiliy to design and maintain database schemas
Comfortable on the Linux/Unix command line.
Proven experience with more than one computer programming language would be a distinct advantage.
Experience with virtual infrastructure particularly Docker and AWS.
