Summer Risk & Analytics Intern - Graduate

Funding Circle US is seeking a passionate and highly motivated graduate level intern to join our 10-week summer internship class in our Risk & Analytics team. Our Risk & Analytics team are quantitative analysts who extract meaningful business insights from data and build/ leverage predictive models to create decision strategies that will optimize business performance.The R&A function sits at the heart of value creation utilizing leading-edge analytics,  turning data into long term competitive advantage and ensuring that US business grows profitably with the right risk controls.

Birds-eye view of the role:

The Intern would work on projects in R&A area under the close oversight of a mentor.

The role would involve :

• Understanding the business problem or opportunity at hand and quantify the key metrics that describe this problem/opportunity
• Define & develop an analytical or modelling framework that would be applied to this situation
• Perform deep dive analysis and propose a comprehensive strategy to address the above
• Work closely with partner teams to drive the implementation of operational strategies
• Present findings and recommendations from the project to senior management at the end of the internship

Projects would be in areas like credit strategy, risk & marketing models, operational strategy for underwriting and pricing optimization. But, will require coordination cross-functionally with other departments to research and implement risk & analytical solutions. 

Qualifications - Ideal candidates will have the following characteristics :

• Pursuing Master’s Degree in Quantitative-Finance related field from accredited college or university
• Proficient with analytical tools like R, SQL, Python, and Tableau
• Strong problem-solving skills using logical reasoning and analytical methods
• Excellent ability to translate complex problems into clear and simple stories

• Strong track record of leadership and accountability
• Energetic & pro-active personality with the ability to work across different teams
• Enthusiasm for a fast-paced, team-oriented, start-up environment with demanding expectations
• Ability to multi-task and manage time independently
