About the Role

We are looking for a world-class software engineer to join our early stage team and build the foundation for serving personalized content in real-time and at scale. Our mission is to build the next generation serving infrastructure and recommendation system for Houzz, scaling with the millions of homeowners, professionals, photos and products on Houzz.

What You'll Do

Scale infrastructure and platforms to handle ever-growing traffic and feature sets

Build highly flexible infrastructure to support core business needs

Measure and optimize the performance of production systems

At a Minimum, We'd Like You to Have

Experience solving complex scaling or performance problems in high performance distributed systems

Experience building and owning critical consumer-facing backend recommendation systems (million+ traffic)

Production experience with Linux, algorithms, multi-threading and high-scale web services

Proficiency in at least one of the primary languages (Java, Python, Go, C++)

Ideally, You'll Also Have

Extensive knowledge and experience with large-scale information retrieval, ranking, personal relevance, freshness and diversity of content

Experience with A/B experiment design and analysis
