This is a fantastic opportunity to join our rapidly expanding and successful compliance team in London as a Compliance Associate/Technologist for a full-time position. The role will cover compliance, product safety and some quality assurance related tasks for all of our international suppliers. It is essential that candidates have a minimum of 2+ years experience in that field, are detail-oriented, reliable and show a lot of initiative.
You will be responsible for helping establish Houzz Shop safety and compliance standards with international suppliers and assure sales of high quality and compliant goods in all Houz Shop markets. You will work primarily with the Legal, Buying and Operations Teams to drive Houzz compliance and safety standards to an excellent level.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Product, market, social and environmental compliance management
  • Monitor and manage supplier audits, test results, quality inspections, certifications and other compliance documentations
  • Work closely with Houzz buyers and designers to ensure that designs and product selections take into account safety, regulatory and quality standards
  • Work closely with Houzz Quality Assurance and Logistics teams in Berlin, including frequent travel to Berlin office and other international locations
  • Ensure suppliers and products meet safety and regulatory requirements and industry standards for US and EU markets
  • Frequent communication with global network of suppliers and Houzz colleagues
  • Assist with quality assurance monitoring, product testing & sample quality checking
  • Assist with post-sales quality and compliance analysis and remediation
  • Building reports and databases on Supplier quality and compliance performance
  • Perform various tasks to support company initiatives and goals as assigned by Management
  • Promote a positive office culture and environment
  • To be considered for the role of Compliance Associate, you must:
  • Have relevant experience in the Regulatory Compliance, Product Safety and/or Quality Assurance fields in the furniture, appliance or home furnishings industry
  • Have deep knowledge of EU & US market compliance and safety standards for furniture, upholstery, textiles, lighting, etc.
  • Be able to work in a global capacity, including flexibility to connect with colleagues and suppliers across multiple time zones
  • Have knowledge of consumer product testing standards or prior experience working with a third party testing laboratory
  • Be accustomed to product certifications, samples process, manufacturer sourcing and compliance standards for the industry
  • Be used to managing tight deadlines and urgent requests from Sourcing, Buying & Operations teams
  • Be used to giving directives and targets to internal/external quality inspectors
  • Have excellent communication skills and be highly focused on details
  • Have an excellent knowledge of Excel, Google apps and features
  • Offer flexibility and adaptability as well as capacity to organise and prioritize your own workload
  • Have a perfect command of English (Chinese being a competitive advantage, any other European language is a plus)
  • Have a strong work ethic
  • Be able to closely follow processes
  • Be able to produce consistently good results under pressure.
  • Be available for international travel - the position will require several business trips per year.
