About the Role

The Houzz Editorial team publishes several stories each day that educate, inform and inspire homeowners and home professionals about home design and remodeling. We are looking for an experienced full-time digital copy editor with a passion for detail who maintains high standards of quality while working quickly and collaboratively.

What You'll Do

Copy edit stories for accuracy, clarity, grammar, syntax, spelling, punctuation, formatting, SEO and adherence to AP and Houzz style

Help write or edit engaging, conversational headlines and subheads that follow Houzz style and SEO best practices

Proofread email newsletters and other Editorial communications

Update and maintain the Houzz Editorial Style Guide

Help manage freelance copy editors who work with Editorial and other Houzz departments

Do occasional copy editing for other Houzz departments

Support the Editorial team in site management and the development of new types of content

At a Minimum, We'd Like You to Have

A degree in journalism, English, communications or the equivalent

3-5+ years of experience copy editing for a shelter, lifestyle or journalism site or similar

Exceptional attention to detail, grammar and logical story construction
