Are you interested in Home Furniture? Would you like working with designers and buyers, to development both product and suppliers? Are you keen to work with a professional and international team, to develop yourself further?
Houzz is looking for high-character technicians to join our Product Quality Team.The ideal candidate should be familiar with home furniture material and production processes, well organized, self-disciplining, flexible to travel, and driven by not only technical issues but also total cost and customer satisfaction.
Position
You will report to the Quality Manager, act as the key person to work with designers, buyers and manufacturers, to develop home furniture products from technical perspectives. Within the local team, you will also be the key person to coach/calibrate Product Quality Inspectors to make sure the product specification and control points are well understood and followed.
Responsibilities (include but not limited to)
  • Perform factory audit and select proper suppliers from production, quality and social compliance points of view, to meet Houzz private-label purchasing needs.
  • Review samples to see the designer and/or buyer’s idea is fulfilled or not.
  • Put forward suggestions whenever you see big risk of product safety or quality.
  • Make product description documents, to record it with sufficient information of material, structure, colour, component, package, workmanship and test requirement.
  • Follow the 1st production of new products, by in-line and final inspections, finalize product documents and pass it to Product Quality Inspectors.
  • Investigate root cause and come back with action reports, when serious quality claim or repeated customer complain happens.
  • Support compliance team to collect test report and self declarations when needed.
  • Qualification
  • Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline.
  • 8+ years experience in home furniture industry, quality or related functions.
  • 5+ years experience in a multinational/cross-culture company.
  • Good English, both written and oral, to communicate with designers/buyers, and to make product document, supplier visit reports.
  • Good communication skill, especially to work with suppliers and Product Quality Inspectors to move tasks forward.  
  • Familiar with Quality/Environmental/Social Responsibility management system and continuous improvement tools.
  • Familiar with common material/components, production processes and failure modes of home furniture.
  • Familiar with US standards and regulations on home furniture (EU and UK part will be a good reference and plus).
  • Well organized and flexible to travel (~ 50% of the working time).
  • Well self-disciplined for business ethics.
