About the Role
Houzz is looking for an ambitious, bright and hardworking IT Support Engineer to join our growing IT Support team (hIT) in Palo Alto. The hIT Support team’s primary responsibility is providing exceptional IT support to fellow Houzzers around the globe. With a goal to make complex technologies feel simple, we take pride in bridging gaps between the technology we use and our staff.
What You'll Do
  • Go “above and beyond” to support Houzzers, helping them resolve problems in all facets of IT (e.g. computers, audio/video, and communications systems)
  • Manage Mac endpoints and deploy scripts, configuration profiles and software using Jamf 
  • Create clear and concise end-user documentation for common issues
  • Assist with software and hardware purchasing
  • Support and streamline processes for our growing Windows laptop user group
  • Provide an exceptional level of support through a high degree of flexibility and contextual understanding
  • Keep current with the latest technologies and best practices with regards to IT support and ops
  • Continue to build and maintain trust between the IT org and all other teams/orgs
  • At a Minimum, We'd Like You to Have
  • 3+ years of experience providing in-office hands-on IT support
  • A natural ability to make complex technologies feel simple
  • Comfort developing, documenting and communicating support-focused processes in collaboration with other teams
  • Experience with SaaS apps, including G Suite, Okta, Zoom, Workday, Slack and other similar systems, as well as with training and supporting employees on their use
  • Experience utilizing a ticketing system, particularly Freshservice or Atlassian products
  • Experience supporting VOIP telephony
  • Experience with software and hardware purchasing, and inventory management
  • Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP)
  • Ability to lift 40+ lbs.
  • Ideally, You'll Also Have
  • Experience in a heterogeneous OS environment is a plus, specifically macOS, Windows and Linux
  • Experience supporting C-level executives
  • The ability to read, understand and write shell scripts
  • Basic knowledge of Active Directory and other MS server features (e.g. DNS, DHCP, etc.)
  • A strong work ethic and the ability to independently prioritize responsibilities while meeting deadlines
  • Outstanding and effective interpersonal and communication skills 
  • The ability to work successfully with other Houzzers around the world
