Algo is an automated video engine that generates videos in function on live data.

It's a cloud tool that creates animations in real-time based on APIs.

Basically, if videos were cars, Algo would be a self-driving car.

It allowed us to generate one video for each medal won during the Olympics in Rio, published automatically to the client's (Bloomberg) twitter feed, or to generate a dozen of video infographics about how every live match is going, inside the official Serie A Tim app.

We now need to expand the internal team working on the project.

thus we're looking for a data expert to help us scale the platform and create more interesting and meaningful data-driven video projects for our clients.

Algo runs After Effects in the Azure cloud, through ExtendScript Toolkit scripts, a language based on Javascript.

The talent we're looking for is a junior developer with an interest in extracting insights from raw data and 2-4 years of experience, he/she must be proficient in: 

• Php and Json/xml 
• have some experience in connecting third party APIs and putting up simple web-services. 
• have an eye for design and a passion for data visualisation 
• a competence in Javascript 
• An experience with animation in general, or more precisely with After Effects is a big nice plus. 
• Experience with Azure based infrastructures is also a plus. 
• A competence in Front-end development is also a plus. 
• Fluent english in both verbal and written communication is required, as most of the clients will be international. 

International talents are also more than welcome to apply if available to move to Italy, as this is a full-time position in Turin.

No remote, at least for the first year.

The position offers a long-term contract with a 3 months trial, competitive salary in function of expertise and seniority, and opens career opportunities within the company.

Responsibilities

The candidate will be responsible for:

• analysing the data available in the project brief phase, in collaboration with the design and animation teams. 
• extracting insights and relevant information out of raw data, while ideating and developing web-services that feed the structured output data to the video customisation step. 
• developing the platform further by adding new functionalities 
• managing project operations, in direct relationship with clients  context 

Algo and its autonomous data-driven videos are gaining a lot of traction.

The project has been featured on Product Hunt, has been brought to multiple conferences like Pioneers festival, Eurobest, Creativity Day and will be on stage in May in Vancouver at Blend Festival, the most prestigious meet-up of the motion graphics community.
