Following its vision to improve financial freedom of the underbanked, Kreditech is currently analysing the Indian market with the aim of establishing an NBFC-licensed subsidiary. Kreditech Group is a globally operating consumer lending company supported by renowned shareholders, including the IFC (World Bank Group), J.C. Flowers, Peter Thiel and Värde Partners. The fintech generated a revenue of EUR 44m in 2015 at double-digit growth rates and employs over 300 people at seven offices worldwide.


Your Role


  • You will be a Director of the NBFC-licensed entity and in this role assume overall responsibility and take ownership for all Finance-, Legal- and Compliance-related matters of Kreditech India;
  • You will report directly to the Board of Kreditech India and functionally to Kreditech’s Group SVP Finance;
  • Your principal customer will be Kreditech's Managing Director India and you will be supporting him in building the company and in taking business decisions with proper financial insight;
  • You will take responsibility for all local accounting, statutory and tax reporting, as required by local regulators and managed by a reputable outsourced service provider in India:
  • You will be closely involved with the support of headquarters’ respective functional managers in budgeting, cost control, profitability analysis, risk monitoring and funding aspects of the local business;
  • You will take full ownership of local Finance administration issues and manage the outsourced local accounting, statutory and tax reporting process;
  • You will support our Corporate Finance and Fundraising activities by representing the company on Finance matters in meetings with banks and local institutional investors;
  • Together with our Group Legal team and the best local legal advisors you will be responsible for legal matters and compliance;
  • You will also be a partner for other headquarter areas including compliance, payments, and product, being the single face of Finance for India;
  • This is an exciting role for an experienced Indian Finance manager of a consumer finance business with the desire to contribute to building an emerging, but very solid business in an international context;
  • You are expected to rationalize and professionalize finance-related processes for local and Group Finance management for India.

Your Strengths


  • At least 5 years of experience in a managerial position in the Finance Function of a financial services business, preferably with a consumer lending institution or bank, or with a leading audit/ financial services company;
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in regulated financial services (i.e.:  stock brokerage, NBFC or bank);
  • Relevant university/ postgraduate degree, ACCA certificate or equivalent (local or international CPA) is welcome;
  • Deep knowledge and experience in working with IFRS and Indian GAAP;
  • Familiar with Reserve Bank of India’s and other regulators’ requirements imposed on NBFCs;
  • “Fit and Proper” under RBI rules, i.e.:
    • Clean criminal record and no involvement in any criminal law proceedings.
    • Clean credit history.  In particular:  Should not have defaulted on any loans in the past
    • If a director of a previous company, said company should also have a clean regulatory/ credit record
    • No record of non-compliance with RBI regulations.
  • Experience, interest and aptitude in credit business and generally financial services industry;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Excellent professional communication skills in English is a must;
  • Ability to work effectively, both independently/ self-directed and as a member of a team; attention to detail and timeliness in delivering on commitments; skilled in problem solving, decision making, and conflict resolution; good communication skills;
  • Desire to work with an international team of professionals who are passionate about their work and projects;
  • Ability to work in distributed office locations through teleconferences and ability to formulate, present and defend business cases in front of senior executives;
  • Willingness to travel frequently between locations (Mumbai, Hamburg).

The company offers extensive initial training in its Hamburg headquarters, in order to familiarize yourself with processes, people and requirements, thereby facilitating a smooth arrival into this newly created position.
