YOUR ROLE
- You will be responsible for providing guidance on federal and state banking regulations and their associated impact on N26’s operations in the US, including:
- Regulation CC (Federal Reserve)
- Regulation DD
- Regulation E
- Regulation K (Federal Reserve)
- Regulation P
- Regulation Z
- E-SIGN Act
- UDAAP
- BSA/AML
- KYC/CIP
- Regulation B
- Ensure that N26 has effective systems, procedures, and controls for risk & compliance with requirements and standards under the regulatory system
- Lead the operational implementation of such systems, procedures, and controls
- Identify gaps in risk & compliance, and address those by implementing systems, procedures, and controls and working with business systems to implement them
- Provide guidance on other compliance and risk topics relevant to financial institutions and technology companies

- Anticipate the impact of financial regulatory change/amendments to N26’s policies and procedures
- Maintain issuing bank relationship on compliance-related topics
- Train and educate colleagues on compliance obligations
- Address regulatory requests
- Manage ongoing / monthly/annual compliance reviews
- Report unusual activity
- Establish relationships with relevant governing bodies, including but not limited to the CFPB, FDIC, Federal Reserve, and OCC
- Review due diligence requirements for existing and new vendors
- This is a unique opportunity to build N26 US’s risk & compliance team for bank operations/regulation from the ground up
- Create a hiring plan and recruit top talent to support the risk & compliance team’s efforts
- Have a direct role in developing the team’s culture
- You have a minimum of 5 - 7 years of risk & compliance-related experience at a federally regulated bank, FinTech, or other financial institution subject to risk, regulatory, and compliance monitoring
- You have advanced knowledge of compliance laws and regulations, banking operations and procedures, and security procedures
- You are experienced with the development and operational implementation of risk and compliance policies, programs, and procedures, including regulatory risk assessments
- You come with a strong hands-on mentality with a focus on execution, and high motivation to take an active role in our company
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required, both verbal and written
- You operate well under stress, even faced with tight timelines for ambitious deliverables
- You have some international experience (study or work abroad) and thrive in a multicultural environment
- BA or BS degree with strong academic performance; JD or LLM strongly preferred
- Advanced industry certifications or certificates (e.g., CAMS) strongly preferred
- You have or are eligible for US working authorization
