At Personio we are on the amazing journey of becoming the leading HR Platform in Europe!In order to add further chapters to our success story, we are now introducing a key leadership role in engineering.As Director of Payroll Engineering, you will lead Personio’s Payroll related software engineering and build out our integrated payroll offering to support our mission of becoming Europe’s leading HR platform. Reporting to our VP Engineering you will be responsible for the three existing cross-functional product teams across Munich and Madrid and their respective Engineering Managers. Due to our rapid growth you will also be able to set up additional product teams over the course of the next 12 months. The role can be located in Munich or Madrid.Role & Responsibilities

Lead the way by owning the technology vision for Personio Payroll
Execute on the combined Product & Engineering roadmap by driving cross functional collaboration, implementing effective processes as well as by ensuring communication and collaboration across engineering
Grow and further develop a world class engineering team across our current engineering locations in Munich and Madrid
Be the key engineering stakeholder in Payroll to drive architectural alignment, prioritization, dependency management and be accountable for technical planning as well as work estimation within the Payroll tribe
Maintain a culture of transparency, individual ownership and open feedback and continuously develop and mentor members of your teams for personal and professional growth
Create, monitor and evolve meaningful KPIs in alignment with the larger Payroll organization
Contribute to overall engineering strategy and towards establishing Personio as a top technology company

What you need to succeed:

10+ years of experience in software engineering and technology, with at least 5 years of experience in leading high performing product engineering teams
Track record in building and managing effective cross-location organizations
Track record in recruiting, development and management of high performing engineering teams
Prior experience in building and shipping customer-facing, web-based applications
Strong organization and prioritization skills, with the ability to execute across multiple tracks and products
Ideally prior experience in Payroll/FinTech related domain
Ability and past experience to work in a dynamic, fast pace environment with ambitious goals
Strong communication skills, very fluent in English (C1/C2), German and/or Spanish are a plus
