Description

Wise PLC launched in 2011 under its original name TransferWise. Fast forward to 2022 – we’re 3000+ Wisers across 17 countries and 90+ nationalities. We’re one of the world’s fastest growing, profitable technology companies and the largest tech company by market capitalisation to ever list in London.

We disrupted an industry and created a new way to move money across borders. Today, 11 million people and businesses use Wise. We process over £6 billion in cross-border transactions every month, saving customers over £1 billion a year. We are continuing to grow at pace and to redefine the international money space and in need of a Head of External Reporting!

You’d be joining our Finance team in London or Tallinn (we’re a global company so expect lots of video calls and some travel) and will contribute to our mission by ensuring we meet our external reporting requirements as a publicly listed financial service company.

Your mission:
  • Lead the preparation and release of our Annual Report and Accounts (ARA) and Half Year Results, including consolidated IFRS financial statements. You will partner with teams outside finance to prepare the “front half”.
  • Responsible for ensuring that external Group financial reporting complies with IFRS, Disclosure and Transparency rules and Companies Act requirements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with our external auditors, and own the group audit process, ensuring a smooth, timely audit process with no surprises.
  • Lead, develop and nurture the External Reporting team (currently 5)  across London and Tallinn and ensure delivery of all aspects of our external reporting cycles.
  • Support, review and challenge complex or significant  accounting judgements made by other finance teams.
  • Understand, review and challenge the finance control environment. Review Internal Audit and other (e.g. regulatory) audit findings and assess impact on our external financial reporting.
  • Ensure all control remediations relating to external audit actions are completed on time and actions are adequate to mitigate the inherent risks.
  • Prepare materials for and present to the Board Audit and Risk Committee.
  • Manage the production of subsidiary Statutory Accounts and coordinate the audit for all legal entities.
  • Support the Investor Relations team to answer questions from investors.
This role will give you the opportunity to:
  • Own your own path to success – You’ll have a high level of autonomy and responsibility.
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of Wise’s business – Get to know many teams across finance and the business as you partner with them to help build our Annual Report and Accounts.
  • Inspire teams with your ideas, strategy, knowledge and self-starting attitude.
  • Grow with the role – You’ll have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills as the business and finance function grows in complexity.
About you:
  • Theory – You have a professional finance qualification ( e.g. ACA or equivalent) with proven post qualification experience. Detailed knowledge of IFRS reporting and PLC reporting requirements is a must.
  • Practice – You have demonstrable experience preparing or reviewing (i.e through audit) publicly listed Annual Reports and Accounts (ARA). You have led audits or been a key audit contact and have detailed experience of audit methodology.
  • Love getting things done – You’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves and take responsibility to do whatever needs doing to solve problems.
  • Collaborative and Influencing Skills – You work well in an international team environment, and know how to have an impact through others. You have partnered with complex internal and external stakeholder groups and have strong communication skills.
  • Development – You are keen to learn and develop your knowledge of how a FinTech and fast growing scale-up operates.
Some extra experience that would be great:
  • Relevant industry experience (FinTech  or financial services)

We’re people without borders — without judgement or prejudice, too. We want to work with the best people, no matter their background. So if you’re passionate about learning new things and keen to join our mission, you’ll fit right in.

Also, where and what you studied isn't important to us. If you’ve got great experience, the right skills for the role and you’re great at articulating your thinking, we’d like to hear from you.

And because we believe that diverse teams build better products, we’d especially love to hear from you if you’re from an under-represented demographic.
