Junior Physical Security Specialist

We’re looking for a Junior Physical Security Specialist to join our growing IT team in our Tampa office. This role is a unique opportunity to oversee physical security in our Tampa and New York offices, ensuring that our security systems run smoothly and detecting any physical security issues to empower our teams to help millions more potential customers save money by using TransferWise - safely and securely.

Your mission:

• Actively assess risk evaluations at all times. This will inform the daily development of the Global TransferWise Physical Security System
• Provide back-end, hands-on maintenance of the security systems and assist the Physical Security Coordinator (PSC) in the coordination of access controls, CCTV, security personnel, and health & safety procedures in our US offices
• Work hand-in-hand with the PSC to ensure that the needs of the security system are met; brainstorming, problem-solving, and developing plans for new security projects, new offices, and the expansion of existing offices
• Act as the point-of-contact for our local security contractors, police, and Fire Marshal, and any other third party security contacts
• Cover for the PSC in his absence and provide emergency backup support for the other TransferWise offices
• You’ll be the main Physical Security contact in the US, covering Tampa and New York, and you’ll also be there for our Wisers in São Paulo, Brazil

A bit about you:

• You’re passionate and knowledgeable about security systems, access controls, as well as CCTV
• You’re passionate and knowledgeable about safety and security standards in the workplace
• You’re an exceptional communicator. At home in our free-spirited culture, comfortable working across timezones and cultures, and also a professional liaison for third party contacts
• You’re a master problem solver. Confident making decisions on your own, you like to face new challenges every day, and you’re quick on your feet but cool under pressure in tense situations
• You’re flexible. Willing to work with the PSC so you’re scheduled for maximum timezone coverage and ready to be available for emergencies outside of regular hours. You’re also willing and able to travel to other TransferWise offices as needed
• You’re responsible. You’re thrive working autonomously most of the time and you’re self-motivated to always get “it” done, but you’re also a great team player who feeds off collaboration with other smart people
• You’re excited about the opportunity to balance security with freedom and eager to help to build a security conscious culture in our offices
• You’re computer literate beyond flipping the on/off switch. You’re at a level where you can ping a VPN, for example, and troubleshoot minor tech issues
• You’d hate a job where everyday is 100% routine, you’re committed and embrace a varied workload, and you’re patient with unexpected interruptions (a 10-minute call at night to resolve an issue is no sweat)
• We’re willing to work with the right person, but at a minimum, we need someone with either education and theoretical understanding or hands on experience in physical security, though not necessarily both
• You’re already legally authorized to work for any employer in the US. We cannot support visas for this role. This is a physical position in Tampa, Florida.

Some extra skills that would be awesome:

• A certification or degree in Physical Security (PSP certification or Security Management degree focus)
• Strong IT proficiency
• Knowledge of FL/NY safety, physical security, and information security laws
• Additional language other than English is always welcome
