We are looking for a KYC Compliance Manager to contribute to the building of our European compliance team. As KYC Compliance Manager, you’ll be responsible for designing, implementing and managing, in cooperation with the entire verification team, the processes that we use to verify the identity of our individual customers.


Your mission:


  • Horizon scan the area of verification: you will focus primarily on the European area but will work closely with the regional compliance officers and verification manager (if any) in order to set a world-class verification process for all TransferWise customers;
  • Provide input to the verification team when designing new processes or when updating current processes;
  • Constantly challenge the current verification process in order to improve the customer experience and the robustness of those controls on a continuous basis;
  • Update the verification policies owned by the compliance team (such as the verification approach document, KYC refresher cycle guidelines);
  • Lead the closing of EU audit findings in the area of verification;
  • Represent the verification team during external reviews and audits;
  • Track the robustness and compliance with the UK & Belgian AML Regulations of the verification processes;
  • Work with the product teams and prepare the launch of new products from a verification perspective: how do we meet our KYC obligations given the design of the product? Which solution offers the best customer experience?
  • Assist in the preparation of training given to the verification team (in cooperation with the verification operational teams).

This role will give you the opportunity to:


  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of TransferWise’s business and get to know many teams across the company as you liaise with them to help them understand the verification regulatory framework and its purpose;
  • Help keep compliance right at the heart of our product developments and new initiatives by horizon-scanning for new regulatory developments or new products and sharing these with the teams;
  • Have a big impact on customers experience – at TransferWise, we put our customers first. All customers go through the verification process at some time during their journey with us. Designing processes that make our customers’ life easier while making sure that we fulfil our regulatory requirements is key to constantly improving our customer experience.

A bit about you:


If you have a background in payments or other financially regulated services, great communication and organisational skills, and tons of motivation and positivity, then this role could be perfect for you!


  • Previous work experience in the compliance/risk sector;
  • Knowledge of EU KYC regulatory requirements;
  • Ability to multi-task and take responsibility in challenging situations;
  • Ability to take decisions and communicate them to internal and external stakeholders;
  • Project leading skills,
  • Independence, pro-activity and willingness to get things done;
  • Familiarity with analytical tools (e.g. Looker) is a plus;
  • Fluency in English;
  • Flexibility to travel to our other offices to meet with the various verification regional teams (4/6 trips per year if based in Tallinn/Budapest or 1/6 weeks if based in London);
  • Excellent organisational, communication and cross-team cooperation skills;
  • Proven track record of taking individual ownership and responsibilities as well as being a great team-player.
  • London/Budapest candidates: legally authorized to work in EU/UK. Sadly we cannot support visas for this role.
