KYC Senior Lead (EDD) for Compliance Operations

We’re looking for a KYC Senior Lead to join our growing team in Tallinn or Budapest. The role is a unique opportunity to lead a global team of high risk customers' onboarding supporting the growth and globalisation of TransferWise and helping millions more potential customers save money by using TransferWise.

Our enhanced due diligence team is the first line of anti-money laundering, counter terrorist financing and fraud prevention. Our aim is to build a seamless experience where our good customers’ money is safe. We do this by checking the identity of our customers and learning why they are sending money. We leverage technology, understand the relevant legislation and learn from local experts. Our day to day is a mix of completing routine checks and conducting head spinning investigations.

Your mission: 

As KYC Senior Lead you'll lead a global team focussing on high risk customers' onboarding and monitoring, by making sure we are compliant and scalable in our processes and product, providing visibility, guaranteeing collaboration and opportunities to improve controls efficiency, customer experience and KYC operations state and scalability. Having in mind.

You'll be a strong leader with a mindset that allows you to build processes that put our customers first while being aware of the risks surrounding the industry, specific products and requirements set to us by regulations and partners.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

What you’ll get to do:

• Help build a robust risk based verification program with the ability to interpret regulation;
• Manage Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) teams on operational, budget and process level;
• Plan the use of human resources - manage recruitment and strategic placement of required staff across teams, establishing and developing organisational structure;
• Develop leadership and independence within sub-teams;
• Act as escalation path of internal and external partners;
• Increase the effectiveness and efficiency within EDD operations teams as well as collaboration and communication between functions and teams;
• Continually measure, monitor and improve overall performance of EDD operations teams and give regular feedback to teams/team leads and provide visibility on company level;
• Ensure all compliance requirements from regulators and partners are covered across function;
• Organise development, documentation and regular updating of necessary work procedures;
• Own short- and long-term plans and vision towards compliance operations team with the view of delivering operational excellence, professional level domain knowledge and scalability;
• Run cross-regional changes/improvement projects;
• Organise the creation and maintenance of compliance training program for TransferWise employees;
• Lead the leads of EDD teams.

A bit about you:

• Experience in leading teams for at least 2 years,
• Ability to multi-task and take responsibility in challenging situations as well as ability to manage, delegate and oversee cross-team projects;
• Good interpersonal skills and experience with leadership and motivating people;
• Good with numbers: analytical skills to support forecasting or team’s resources, product changes impact and improving current processes;
• Proven track record of taking individual ownership and responsibilities as well as being a great team-player;
• Experience or interest in working with people from different backgrounds;
• Great communication and presentation skills;
• Flexibility with working-hours as you’ll get to work with multiple offices and time-zones.

Some extra skills that would be awesome:

• Strong knowledge and understanding of regulations;
• Familiarity with reading legal and regulatory documents.
