KYC (Know Your Customer) Specialist - EDD


We’re looking for a KYC Specialist to join our growing Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) team in our Tampa office. This role is a unique opportunity to support our compliance department as the first line of defense against anti-money laundering and fraudulent activities, to provide a seamless customer experience while performing compliance checks to ensure their money is safe, and to help millions more potential customers save money by using TransferWise!

Your mission:


  • On-board and monitor higher risk customers (both personal and business) who are using TransferWise in different countries
  • Understand our Enhanced Due Diligence processes and regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to building a safe environment for our customers’ money to move in by being a crucial piece of deterring and stopping money laundering
  • Create a world-class customer experience, because they come first and our success comes from our customers
  • Answer TransferWise enhanced due diligence process related queries from customers, partners, and other teams
  • Contribute to improving our processes and products

This role will give you the opportunity to:

A bit about you:


  • You’re an exceptional communicator. Fully fluent in English, including excellent verbal and written skills, you’ve mastered direct customer interaction and you’re equally comfortable and calm in either giving or receiving feedback
  • You’re experienced. You’ve got previous work experience in compliance, KYC, or AML
  • You’re up to date on the reg’s. You’ve got a good understanding of the regulatory framework surrounding customer verification and you’re familiar with reading legal and regulatory documents, preferably from a market that TransferWise currently operates in
  • You’re entrepreneurial. Punctual and proactive, you’re a problem solver that’s always looking for improvements and can think outside the box when figuring out new solutions for the customers; no matter the challenge, you get it done
  • You’re precise. You can keep a sharp mind and eye even in routine tasks, and you’re an adept multi-tasker with attention-to-detail that is unmatched
  • You’re dependable. You’ve got a proven track record of taking individual ownership, you always take responsibility in challenging situations, and you’re ready and willing to help the team when needed
  • You’re flexible. You’re excited by a workload that varies from routine tasks to head-spinning case investigations, and you’re equally amenable to varied work shifts including early mornings, late nights, weekends and public holidays

A bit more about you:


  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must already be legally authorized to work in the US. We cannot support visas for this role. This is a physical position in Tampa, Florida

Some extra skills that would be awesome:


  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
  • College courses in accounting or business
  • Any additional language skills are always a plus
