Tax Manager

TransferWise is one of Europe’s fastest growing companies. We move billions of GBP of customer money in over 70 countries and now we’re looking for an awesome new Tax Manager to come on board in London and help us on our high speed growth journey!

You’ll be part of a commercially-minded Tax team in Finance, helping to ensure our tax affairs are efficient, transparently compliant and slick so that our mission is sustainable. You’ll initially be focused on the Americas region, ensuring our tax compliance and reporting obligations are met across Latin America and all US states as we continue to scale.

Your mission:

• Take the lead in all outsourced US federal, state and local tax filings. This includes forecasting payments, ensuring returns are accurately prepared, and making sure all filings are made in a timely manner. Elements of this may be taken in-house over time.
• Ownership and preparation of year-end tax schedules for US, Canada and Latin American entities. This includes calculating tax provisions and disclosures for local financial statements and working together with other members of the Group Tax team on group consolidation.
• Be completely on top of all new tax laws and cases, ensuring our operations are fully in line with latest practice, guidance and regulatory requirements. This includes monitoring for local regulatory changes, case law, OECD digital taxes, and any other developments that affect the region.
• Support the International Tax Manager on ad hoc research and projects from time to time, including expansion into new countries, monitoring transfer pricing charges, intra-group debt, and ensuring we are compliant with rules around CFCs, PFICs, interest restrictions etc.
• Work closely with financial controllers, accounting, and finance system teams.
• Build relationships with non-finance teams to understand how the wider business works.

A bit about you:

As we continue to scale at speed, this role will inevitably evolve over time, so you’ll need to be proactive, independent and excited at the prospect of solving unfamiliar problems.

• Fully qualified ACA, ACCA, CTA, CPA or similar.
• Solid understanding of both US federal and multi-state taxes.
• Proven ability to work in an uncertain environment in countries and taxes that you have not worked on before.
• A flair for solving problems and be excited at the prospect of working on challenges outside of your usual comfort zone

Some extra skills that would be fantastic:

• In-house experience.
• Fluency in another foreign language, bonus points for Spanish or Portugese.
• Experience of working on taxes in Latin American countries.
