We are looking for a Mobile Engineering Manager to join our team in Berlin, Germany

In your role as a Mobile Engineer Manager, your mission will be to change the future of language learning while working in a challenging environment. Working together with ambitious colleagues, you will be responsible for leading native mobile application (iOS and Android) development to achieve strategic and operational business goals, financial results and quality product delivery. 

You will:

• Take responsibility for working with teams and driving a solution when they see process or resource-related challenges 
• Be responsible for team members well-being and team-building, hiring, talent retention, performance and people growth
• Take care about the product quality and drama-free launches
• Create a safe environment for their teams in which all opinions are heard and calculated risks are taken. No blame culture!
• Be accountable for fulfilment of established SLA requirements
• Implement  Team leadership & management;
• Develop a strong and meaningful partnership with Product teams and Marketing to understand market needs & vision; quickly translate vision into demonstrable software. The goal will be to drive technology innovation with a customer centric focus.
• Work with product owners, engineers, and other key stakeholders to formulate comprehensive multi generation technology plans consistent with overall company strategy and budgetary considerations.

You have: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related field of study. Master’s degree is preferred.
• 8+ years of software development experience with programming languages or frameworks such as Java, Obj-C, Swift for Android and iOS development, RESTfull API design, JS ReactJS, GO 
• Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies and test & behaviour driven development, CI/CD automation pipelines and App store release management
• Thorough understanding of mobile security protocols, of mobile platforms and their unique features concerning technology, UI and UX and accessibility first from a UX perspective.
• Strong understanding of interaction design and usability best practices
• Strong problem-solving capabilities with the ability to articulate complex technical topics with non-technical people
• Operational experience working with teams, in delegation and prioritization
• Excellent people skills, ability to coach, experience in conflict resolution
• Drive for simple and sustainable solutions
• Good communication skills verbal, written
• Pragmatic drive with action bias and can-do attitude
• Experience in lean and agile methodologies and with distributed system architectures
• Relevant working experience in driving cross-platform projects (mobile and other platforms will be plus)
