PHP Lead Developer

The PHP Lead Developer plays an important role in the organization by performing a number of tasks related to the company’s Tech functions. This full stack development role is primarily responsible, with limited supervision, for planning, designing, coding and supporting the FC’s applications using industry best practices.

 Who you are

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering or related subject.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in software/web development related role(s).
• Expertise in PHP, Symfony, Docker, AWS, JIRA, Confluence, Source control systems, Continuous Delivery tools.
• Demonstrated abilities to work independently and show initiative.
• Demonstrated and proven leadership skills.
• Proven Diagnostic and Troubleshooting skills.
• Proven Testing skills. TDD or BDD is highly desirable.
• Experience with agile methodologies.
• Experience with application optimization and architecture.
• Experience with complex SQL queries and database schema design.
• Experience building integrations with 3rd party SOAP/REST API providers.
• Experience in supporting high availability production systems is highly desirable.
• Expertise in Ruby, event-driven and distributed systems is desirable.

What you’ll do

Lead and mentor a small team of Developers being responsible for the teamwork. Use your expertise to answer questions from less experienced teammates and working to distribute technical knowledge throughout the team.

• Provide feedback and input concerning architecture and operations.
• Responsible for research and analysis to turn complex project requirements into manageable technical plans.
• Make recommendations for systems changes, including redesign and enhancements to ensure process efficiencies, staff productivity, user-friendliness and end-user satisfaction.
• Create coding patterns to be used by less experienced teammates.
• Participate in code review and mentoring of other team members.
• Produce robust unit test.
• Participate in the creation of training materials, job aids, as well as any new rollouts or updates.
• Implement security updates and patches as required.
• Lead technical project planning sessions to determine project scope and approach, align development with our Delivery Team and the company goals.
• Maintain and enhance complex and scalable enterprise-level applications in PHP.
• Write, text and debug customizations and new features using best practices and adhering to coding standards.
• Properly document functionality (design docs, in-line, wiki, etc.)
• Identify, investigate and resolve platform bugs and issues.
