About the Role

We are looking for a world-class software engineer to join our early stage team and build the foundation for serving personalized content in real-time and at scale. Our mission is to build the next generation serving infrastructure and recommendation system for Houzz, scaling with the millions of homeowners, professionals, photos, and products on Houzz.

What You'll Do

Scale infrastructures and platforms to handle ever-growing traffic and feature sets

Build high flexible infrastructures to support the core business needs

Measure and optimize performance of production systems

At a Minimum, We'd Like You to Have

Experience in solving complex scaling or performance problems in high performance distributed systems

Experience in building and owning critical consumer-facing backend recommendation systems

Experience with production machine learning systems at scale (e.g. natural language processing, ranking/quality)

Production experience with Linux, algorithms, multi-threading and high-scale web services

Proficiency in at least one of the primary languages (Java, Python, Go, C++)

Ideally, You'll Also Have

Extensive knowledge and experience with large scale information retrieval, ranking, personal relevance, freshness, and diversity of content
