About the Role

We are looking for a world-class infrastructure engineer to build and support database systems that will scale with the growth of our site, the most popular home remodeling site in the world. You will deliver persistent and consistent data that is readily available for our entire engineering team, making sure that we can sustain the workload and quickly recover when issues arise. You will improve our servers to support more innovative ways of using the data, thus producing smarter experience to our end-users.

What You'll Do

Lead a small team to build highly reliable and performant database systems

Build tools that will automate common database management workflows

Develop and optimize database client libraries for use in product development

Gather requirements and build new solutions to support new use cases

Choose and implement new technologies that will enable us to sustain our growth for years to come

At a Minimum, We'd Like You to Have

Experience managing database systems, preferably MySQL

Proficiency in modern compiled and scripting languages such as Java and Python

Production experience with large scale distributed systems, including triaging failures and performance tuning

Independence, self-direction and an amazing ability to get stuff done

B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent
