Our Training Team Makes Things Happen

Houzz has an immediate opening for a proven Instructional Designer to join our Learning & Development team supporting our E-Commerce channel. The ideal candidate will feel at home in designing materials for print as well as eLearning technologies, and have experience in a variety of SCORM-compliant LMS platforms. The role requires a dynamic individual who thrives in a changing environment, is self-driven, and proactively seeks cross-functional collaboration. This role reports to the Director of Learning & Development and requires a physical presence in our Orange County office daily. Telecommuting/working remotely is not available.

What You’ll Do

Development of instructional design materials through all stages: project intake, defining project scope and refining requirements through collaboration with business leaders, producing wireframes/storyboards, collecting and implementing feedback, seeking final approval(s), execution of content with Training Facilitators as appropriate, and measuring performance results.

Management of design project to include requirements gathering, regular communication of project updates, and meeting project milestones as scheduled/committed.

Collaborate with key business leaders to identify target audience’s training needs

Apply tested instructional design theories, practice and methods

Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc)

Occasional travel required

At a Minimum, We’d Like You To Have…

3-5 years of instructional design experience working in Adobe InDesign (or similar professional design software)

SCORM-compliant design expertise

Familiarity with: ADDIE model of instructional design, Adult learning theory and Kirkpatrick’s Levels of Evaluation

Ideally, You’ll Also Have…

High degree of technical aptitude with experience in instructional design authoring software (Adobe Creative Cloud, namely InDesign, highly preferred)

Excellent professional writing skills

Strong planning, organizational and prioritization skills

Ability to effectively work and collaborate within all levels the organization

Experience managing instructional design projects from cradle to grave
