About the Role

We are looking for an experienced engineer to improve the returns on our marketing spend. You will play a central role in designing and implementing systems that use data-driven insights, advanced machine learning and optimization algorithms to solve problems such as multi-touch attribution of marketing spend to individual campaigns, customer lifetime value prediction, media mix modeling, user click prediction, conversion rate and conversion value prediction.

What You'll Do

Research, design and implement algorithms to improve Houzz in the areas of advertising personalization, relevance, and quality

Define key success metrics for return on advertising spend, ad relevance and ad quality

Develop and deploy high-performance algorithms; design and run A/B tests to improve these key metrics

Collect and analyze log data to calculate these metrics

Work as part of a small, collaborative team to bring new ideas to life

At a Minimum, We’d Like You to Have

Deep understanding of data mining, optimization and machine learning

Solid coding skills in a common programming language such as Python, Java, PHP and C++

Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop and Spark

Independence, self-motivation and the drive to get stuff done

M.S., B.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science or related engineering disciplines
