Houzz is looking for a Senior Accountant, Revenue Accounting. In this position, you will work closely with the Manager, Technical Accounting and other members of the Accounting Team in all areas that may impact revenue recognition.

Responsibilities include:

Assist with the management and improvement of global processes for the accounting of Houzz’s revenue, including billing, contra-revenue accruals, sales discounts and allowance, deferred revenue, and the related balance sheet reconciliations.

Perform month-end close processes, including contract review, processing payments and preparing/posting journal entries. Be able to present financials to management, as well support with any ad hoc requests from cross functional teams.

Assist with the implementation of ASC 606.

Identify opportunities and implement programs to centralize, eliminate, or automate activities.

Work with Technical Accounting to implement policies and/or manage processes and ongoing revenue-related activities.

Partner with internal teams as well as engineering and business partners to define, establish and implement accounting systems, processes and procedures.

Review processes and assist with the implementation of controls to ensure mitigated risk for Houzz.

Requirements & preferences for this position include:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business or equivalent practical experience.

4-5 years of relevant work experience.

CPA certification or equivalent practical experience.

Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, with a focus on revenue recognition.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent business acumen with ability to deal with ambiguity. Effective skills and ability to understand and present data.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently.

Detailed-oriented, organized approach to performing and reviewing work.

Ability to deal effectively with all levels of a global organization and manage relationships with external parties.
