Position Overview

We are looking for a software engineer to join the team that powers the Houzz Product Marketplace. As a Commerce Pricing Software Engineer, you will be focused on developing the pricing strategy of Houzz. Your strategy will play a critical role in the evolution of the pricing of millions of products and work on solutions ranging from building internal tools and workflows to automatically determining prices for marketplace products. We aim to enhance user experiences related to pricing on the site.

Contributions

Taking high level ideas and transforming them into live products, used by millions of homeowners and professionals from around the world

Building features for all parts of our web application, its libraries, widgets and custom features

Working cross-functionally across engineering, product, and design teams

Required Skills and Experience

Strong algorithmic skills

Proficiency in full stack web-application development (LAMP stack)

Proficiency with relational databases (MySQL, etc.)

A desire to tackle different facets of pricing including user experience on product browse and search

3+ years experience

Self-directed, independent and has experience owning complete features/products

Desired Skills and Experience

Familiarity with NoSQL databases and Lucene/Solr a plus

Prior experience working with pricing

Ability to communicate across technical and non-technical groups

B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent
