Descrizione

We started in 2012, when we noticed a problem: on average, it was taking eight weeks (and a lot of paperwork) for small businesses to apply for a loan. Worse still, more often than not, that process was ending in a ‘no’.

We knew that bakeries, building firms, salons and solicitors deserved better. They deserve to be able to grow – hire more hands, invest in stock, market themselves – without all the hold music and absurdly rigid criteria.

We’ve now been around for a decade

Our mission is to finance 1 million businesses, so still, a long way to go.

And in that time, we’ve:

  • grown to a team of 290 iwocans
  • worked with over 50,000 small businesses across the UK and Germany
  • redesigned the whole business loan process from start to finish – our record is three minutes, 26 seconds.

It’s a good start, but it’s just the beginning. Our mission is help one million businesses who need us, so we still have a long way to go.

Here’s what we’ve learned about lending along the way:

  • Technology is the way to change this space

From automated decisions to API integrations, tech has the potential to create the changes small businesses have been waiting for – so we can’t stop innovating.

  • Embedded finance is the future

More and more, we’re reaching customers by embedding our loans within the apps and systems they use everyday. Our partners are people like neobanks, online marketplaces and accountancy software companies.

  • Payments and credit are converging

Lots of small businesses struggle with cash flow; often getting invoices paid from their customers months after paying their own bills. Loans can help them pay these bills, but we also want to tackle the problem at its root by improving payment terms.

  • New products are always possible

We’re working to create new loans of all shapes and sizes, and we’ve recently launched iwocaPay to help with these cash flow conundrums. So what’s next?

We work hard to make iwoca a place where everyone feels welcome - we want everyone to confidently be themselves. For us, diversity isn't an optional add-on. It's the thing that makes us great.

Requirements

We’re looking for a People Partner to join our People Operations team.

People Partners are involved in each iwocan's journey from beginning to end, from onboarding catch-ups to exit interviews, payroll, managing performance and beyond. You will be responsible for ensuring that we run a really efficient and high-quality HR function. In addition to the day-to-day work (e.g. conducting exit interviews, managing payroll, etc.), you’ll also work on projects that improve and expand the scope of what we do currently. A project may involve redesigning our onboarding processes, setting up an effective wellbeing programme or determining what we do as a company to promote diversity and inclusion.

You’ll be joining a team that is hard-working and fun, we’re all keen to develop ourselves and learn about new ideas and innovations in People Operations that can help improve employee engagement and performance at iwoca.

As a People Partner, you will:

  • Be the go-to person for people matters within the Tech, Analytics and Product teams.
  • Nurture a culture of continuous learning, radical candour and humility across the organisation, focusing particularly on those teams you are supporting
  • Develop the capability of our managers through coaching and mentoring, to help them be exceptional leaders of their teams
  • Take the lead on some strategic projects such as our improving cross-team integration, well-being initiatives, manager training etc
  • Lead the Diversity and Inclusion taskforce
  • Own the payroll & benefits admin process alongside other People Partners
  • Oversee the performance review and salary review processes for the teams you support
  • Bring best practices in relation to supporting the development, health and well-being of all our team
  • Recommend improvements and ways of working with the aim of improving and simplifying our employee experience
  • Lead on any Employee relation cases that arise e.g. performance issues, disciplinaries, grievances etc.

You should have:

  • HR experience at a high-growth company.
  • Extremely high attention to detail, even when working at a fast pace and spinning many plates.
  • Great communication skills, and able to engage effectively with people from across the business.
  • A keen interest in HR strategy and innovations. You read blogs, attend webinars or listen to podcasts to learn about the latest developments in HR, and are keen to research and try out new ideas for making our HR function truly great.
  • A growth mindset. We want people who are hands on and are happy to dive in and learn new skills, rather than just relying on previous experience.

You should also be:

  • Extremely proactive, and able to identify tasks that need to be done or ways of improving existing processes.
  • Obsessed with efficiency, keen to find ways to do things faster and better
  • A great problem solver, able to think on your feet.
  • Extremely personable, kind and empathetic, without compromising your objectivity.
  • Able to prioritise so that you use your time most effectively to contribute towards the business goals.
  • Good team player
