Debtwire is looking for an experienced lawyer to cover international bankruptcies and restructurings, including European, Asian and cross-border situations.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience practicing in the areas of corporate bankruptcy and insolvency law and be able to highlight and contextualize important developments. The analyst must also have the skills required to publish long-form analysis and trend reports, as well as quick-reaction pieces based on current market activity.

The legal analyst will collaborate with a team of international legal analysts and court reporters, in addition to our teams of distressed credit / data analysts and editorial reporters to analyze issues inherent to current and forthcoming corporate restructurings. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Publish in-depth legal research and trend reports on corporate restructuring issues in the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia
• Augment articles from reporting desk and assist bankruptcy court reporters with their news reports
• Work closely with data and research analysts on distressed and restructuring reports

• Excellent written and oral communication skills with proven ability to explain complex legal issues to non-lawyers, and the ability to work with people at all levels
• Action oriented: the ideal candidate must demonstrate a results-oriented attitude and be able to work collaboratively with a dynamic team of journalists, editors, analysts, and lawyers
• Intellectual curiosity, passion for in-depth analysis
• Superior time management capabilities; consummate multi-tasker; ability to effectively juggle competing priorities

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Legal Degree (J.D. equivalent) or equivalent experience
• Experience at a law firm in the corporate restructuring / bankruptcy department representing debtors and/or creditors in restructuring situations preferred
• Substantial comprehension of key restructuring legal issues and corporate finance matters, with a focus on schemes of arrangement and other global bankruptcy and insolvency regimes
• Previous experience in data analysis and knowledge of European and Asian languages are a plus
• Previous familiarity with the Debtwire product offering is a plus
