We are looking for a
Chief Accountant
for our Administration Department in Cologne Office.
Directly reporting to the Finance and Operation Manager, he or she will be responsible for overseeing the General Accounting, Financial Reporting functions and the financial services area including A/R and A/P and Assets Management for Moleskine Germany GmbH.
Main Responsibilities
Implement and maintain the system of internal controls that will ensure that company assets are adequately safeguarded and that all financial reporting is prepared in compliance with local GAAP and IFRS and also the Internal Control policies;
Oversees the general accounting function, which includes inter-company accounting, cash management/reconciliation, financial reporting, balance sheet management (including inventory related items) Ensure that the accounting records are compliant with fiscal regulations and tax rules applicable from time to time (VAT Declarations, Withholding taxes, INTRASTAT etc);
Perform month-end accounting activities such as reconciliation and journal entries;
Year-end Financial Statements preparation, also including the disclosure notes;
Accurate and timely preparation of tax computation and documentation in collaboration the external CPA/tax consultants;
Respond to accounting inquiries from management in a timely fashion;
Support independent auditors and tax authorities in carrying out their reviews. Accountable for ensuring that policies and procedures (internal controls) are in place to provide reasonable assurance that the company assets are protected;
Technical and Skills Requirements
5+ years of accounting experience preferably within a multinational business, experience within an audit firm is preferred;
Solid proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) along with SAP software (FI, CO, MM and SD module);
Strong knowledge of IFRS, German taxation rules and reporting, internal controls and financial reporting, required;
German mother language, Fluent in English;
Highly meticulous and analytical;
