THE ROLE

As Bookkeeper for both Italian and UK entities, you will manage financial transactions and create financial reports from that information. You will process and record invoices and receipts in accounting journals and using accounting software.

You will reconcile accounts to ensure their accuracy and have daily interaction with external accounting consultants. You will also be responsible for preparing and submitting periodic reports to Tax Authorities.

You will be expected to bring in best practices as well as a more streamlined and formalised process.


RESPONSIBILITIES

- Tag and monitor fixed assets

- Pay supplier invoices in a timely manner

- Pay amounts owed as payment due date arises

- Monitor cash levels of bank accounts

- Collect sales taxes and remit them to the government

- Ensure that receivables are collected promptly

- Record invoices and receipts in company accounting system

- Conduct a monthly reconciliation of every bank account

- Conduct periodic reconciliations of all accounts to ensure their accuracy

- Provide information to the external accountant who creates the company’s financial statements, also with reference to tax matters

- Prepare periodic reporting to Tax Authorities

- Manage Vat returns for Group entities

- Assemble information for external auditors

- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system

- Maintain the chart of accounts

- Provide clerical and administrative support to management as requested


REQUIREMENTS

- Experience working in a similar role, ideally within a start up environment

- Experience of implementing and managing processes to improve the smooth-running of financial transaction processes

- Experience and ability to work with and manage sensitive and confidential information and tasks

- You must be a self starter, proactive and live by taking initiative

- Ability to organise, prioritise and manage multiple tasks

- A strong team player who will embody the MFM culture and values

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills - fluent in English & Italian

- Computer literate - using both Google and Microsoft suites

- Respect the requirements of Italian Law 68/99 (i.e. belong to “categorie protette”)

- Degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience, as well as a knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles

- Experience with Oracle accounting system would be a plus.
