Role
You’ll be working within a team focussing on increasing growth of our ambitious customer base, but your impact and influence is cross-cutting to all teams by driving the quality initiative using tooling and automation.
For this role we also offer the possibility of complete remote position.
You are a software engineer that happens to have specialised in testing.
You acknowledge the limited time and place for manual testing, and promote the benefits of automation. You are very attentive to detail.
You spot mistakes that most miss, even trivial ones.
You like to break things so you can improve them.
You instinctively think of the many unhappy paths and the what ifs...
You are technically minded, with an eye for detail and passionate about continuously delivering quality software. Given any incident, you instinctively know where and how we should test for its regression.
You contribute to architectural discussions with insights that advocate a systems' testability and robustness. 
You are methodical, disciplined, opinionated, pragmatic and biased towards action but also empathetic with colleagues and our customers.
Responsibilities
-Design/Build/Maintain test suites and tools, mostly in JavaScript/Typescript. 
-Values Exploratory Testing, investigates and mitigates risk within software, and able to communicate confidence, or a lack of in a product.
-Engage in team discussions on product features, technical design sessions, planning and other agile ceremonies with a rational and productive attitude
-Collaborates with the broader team to write technical documentationDrives and facilitates the technical testing conversations with team membersBuild consensus within the team on the level of detail required in acceptance criteria.
-Instils trust and helps others identify their potential, support and motivate individuals to realise it.
-Openly imparts their experiences to better others.
-Challenges the team processes and conventional views/current thinking to foster innovation, looking for ways to improve/optimise them.
-Be forthcoming in providing user experience feedback, while acknowledging the distinction between bugs, defects and suggestions for improvement.
-Have a broad understanding of the whole architecture and its different services and ensure all testing needs are identified and planned for including functional and non-functional.
Requirements
-You have at least:
-8 years of commercial experience in software engineering
-3 years experience in JavaScript/Typescript
-You are experienced in UI/E2E testing tools ideally Cypress
-You are familiar with Rest APIs and the Open API Specification.
-You are comfortable with Postman for exploring and testing API’s.
-You are proficient with JavaScript/Typescript, or willing to learn other languages namely Scala.
-Familiar with CI/CD concepts and tools like Gitlab CI.
-You are able to advocate when and where non-functional testing is needed.
-You understand microservices and event-sourced application architectures, different API styles and integration patterns.
-You are familiar with software engineering for cloud based distributed service architectures, preferably on AWS. 
-Understands Agile methodologies and their founding principles.
-Prior experience with financial systems and/or trading systems is not a requirement but is obviously a plus.
-Able to communicate effectively in English (written and spoken), Italian is a nice to have.
