We’re looking for a driven PR person, who’s been working in communications or journalism (or a role with a similar background) for a few years. 

You’ll be helping drive impactful and integrated campaigns from the get-go, from creative concepts to drafting research questions, and selling into media.

You’ll know the UK media landscape like the back of your hand, and you’ll follow the moves of journalists, and the topics they cover, closely.

You should love writing, and have UK press contacts in the personal finance, consumer finance and business media. You’ll be organised, proactive, creative and a natural team player with a ’self-starter’ approach to your work.

A bit about the role

There are three key areas of focus that you will work on:

Working with the UK PR Manager, you’ll be embedded within the GBP tribe, who’ll be integral in keeping you informed with the latest product news, and contextual updates coming from Government Relations, Compliance and various other departments. You’ll help advise where media attention might be coming from based on these updates, and recommend topics we can comment or respond to. You’ll be comfortable working with local spokespeople and you’ll understand how to make their work relevant and interesting to consumers, and the consumer press.

We always love to see fresh thinking, and ideally you’ll come up with your own creative ideas to get the TransferWise story in front of your key audiences. You won’t just be looking after our presence in the personal finance press, but you’ll likely have a hand in elevating our employer brand, and establishing our CSR efforts with the press. You’ll know what resonates most with specific publications and platforms, and will advise and tailor campaigns accordingly.

You will help the wider PR team run our UK Press Office - you’ll draft responses to media enquiries, help organise media briefings, and play a key role in prioritising inbound requests. Many media relationships in the UK already exist, but we’d love you to help expand our horizons. 

What will you need?

• Passion for our mission: You’ll be truly passionate about the TransferWise mission of  achieving money without borders - instant, convenient, transparent, and eventually free. You’ll be excited at the concept of developing great ideas to make financial services fairer.
• A can-do attitude: You’ll bring a positive, creative, and determined approach to your work with an enthusiastic approach to picking up new things. You’ll perform well under pressure, often working to tight deadlines, and learning quickly from feedback
• A love of media: You’ll read all types of media from traditional print through to social, and you’ll be on top of the relevant news trends. You’ll enjoy identifying new journalists who will be receptive to TransferWise’s story, and won’t be afraid to pitch to new journalists
• Excellent communication skills with complex subject matter: You’ll have excellent written and verbal communications skills, and enjoy the challenge of adopting TransferWise’s tone for blog and press release copy. You’ll be comfortable simplifying complex technical issues, and will be able to write clearly and simply where needed.
• A creative approach to building PR campaigns:  You’ll love a brainstorm, and be brimming with ideas for how to get TransferWise into a range of press, from The Sunday Times to Stylist.
