Product Manager - Cards Fraud Prevention

We’re looking for a Product Manager to join our fast growing Cards Issuance team in Tallinn, to keep TransferWise cardholders safe and fraud related costs close to zero.

TransferWise Card is one of the newest and most dynamic TransferWise products, with millions of transactions made every month across the globe. Fraud Prevention team mission is to identify and stop attempts to use cards fraudulently and to help our customers in case they have disputes over transactions.

This is a unique opportunity to work together with brilliant engineers and analysts, investigate large amounts of data to build smart anti-fraud algorithms and rules. You’ll help our operational team develop and automate processes. Support strong relationships with Visa, MasterCard and regional teams in APAC and America to support them with local card programs.

Your mission:

• Your mission is to build a product that redefines the world of fraud prevention - stop financial crime, prevent financial losses and provide a seamless user experience for our customers.
• You will ensure your team has a strong vision and sharp priorities. Set KPIs and measure progress with them.
• You will help engineers and analysts to enhance our fraud prevention algorithms using latest machine learning practices.
• Fraud prevention team has analysts, engineers and operations specialists. You will facilitate their work together to build the most smooth and automated processes possible.
• You will own relationships with schemes, making sure we are using all their best technology and doing it in the most cost efficient way.
• Leading by example - not only will you lead a product team yourself, but we'd love it if you could help other diverse and autonomous product teams

This role will give you the opportunity to:

• Travel - the Card Fraud Prevention is based in two locations, Tallinn and Singapore. We travel a lot to make sure we are as close to each other as if we would be sitting at the next desk. You will also have sister teams and partners to visit in New York and London.
• Be flexible in how and where you work, we understand everyone needs a little something different so we’ll do our best to make it happen.
• Solve a truly global challenge - TransferWise Card has a global customer base and the inherent complexity of dealing with smart fraudsters across the globe (oh boy they are creative) makes it a truly unique challenge crucial to achieve our mission of offering our customers spending with zero fees.

A bit about you:

• You have a proven track record of being able to deliver highly ambitious products. You’ll be ready to show what these are, and how you made it happen. You also need to demonstrate the ability to move metrics and reach your KPI goals.
• You are a good problem solver. When dealing with fraud, you're constantly dealing with imperfect information and unplanned events, where you have to outsmart fraudsters to contain potential losses. You follow the "working smarter instead of harder" principle.
• You are data-driven. You need to be able to prioritise the value you can add to customers, and get the entire company behind you. Numbers are the best way to do this. You are very rigorous about measuring impact and assessing expected impact.
• You understand how systems are built, know how to write your own SQL, preferably you have coded before and Python is in your toolbox.
• You understand operations. You’ve experience of working with support or other operational teams, and how to work with people and processes as well as products.
• You are good under stress. It can be very stressful, when we see a new fraud wave causing losses. A PM needs to be able to react fast, stay calm, support the team, assess the magnitude of the problem, and come up with suggestions on how to contain risk.
• You’re a great communicator: An effective communicator - you’re straight up and honest. You can adapt your communication style to different audiences. You’re able to persuade others and you aren’t afraid to challenge something when you need to.
