We are seeking a Lead Data Scientist to join us in our Data & Analytics function, working with departments across Trustpilot including Product, Content Integrity, Commercial and Engineering to construct, deploy and maintain models at scale, and to manage and mentor a small number of Data Scientists. To succeed in this role you should have a strong technical background as a Data Scientist, the proven ability to drive forward good working practices, knowledge of the interface between data science and engineering, the ability to engage with and influence stakeholders, and the ability to inspire and motivate others.

The Role    

As Lead Data Scientist your focus will be on how we use and apply data science within the organisation to make data science a key part of our growth. You will ensure that our processes for creating and deploying production-ready ML models are best-in-class and that we remain up to date with the latest tools and techniques. You will use your analysis, modelling, text mining, and data engineering skills to uncover new knowledge and help identify new opportunities from data, constructing complex models whilst explaining them in simple terms. You will take the technical lead on some of our most exciting Data Science projects and you will be responsible for people leadership: managing and mentoring more junior team members. You will be part of Trustpilot’s mission to be an industry leader in the use of advanced modelling for safeguarding online content integrity.

You will be part of a specialised team that expects you to bring not just your Data Science experience but also great ideas and a positive mindset. You will work with multiple sources of data from our product and commercial systems and will have the opportunity to work across many areas of our business, from product to commercial to content integrity. The types of projects that you can expect to be involved in range from scoring models to natural language processing to pattern recognition. You’ll be joining a friendly, international, team of like minded people in central Copenhagen. 

About You

• You have a minimum BA/BSc degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or related quantitative degree. A MSc or PhD is preferred
• You thrive in a dynamic environment and have extensive experience with analytical and quantitative problem solving using advanced statistical techniques
• You have experience in building and deploying ML models at scale, and very strong data engineering skills
• You love technical work but also love coaching other people
• You are skilled at identifying the best modelling approach to suit any given problem, and never apply a ‘one size fits all’ mindset to ML
• You are an expert in Python, R & SQL for data manipulation, modelling and scripting
• You have experience of working with large datasets. Knowledge of the data generated by websites or in the eCommerce sector, behavioural analytics/fraud detection, and experience of working with data from commercial systems (e.g. Salesforce) is a big plus
• You have knowledge of data pipelining (e.g. via Airflow). Prior experience of cloud-based ML model deployment is a must
• You are a great communicator - both with technical colleagues and with business stakeholders
• You have the ability to work independently and to prioritise tasks and requests in line with business priorities for yourself and your team
• You have 5+ years of relevant technical experience in a Data Science role, preferably in the technology sector or in a technical consultancy
• You have prior experience in a manager/team lead role
