In the data services team at Home24 we are leveraging cutting-edge frameworks, languages, and infrastructure running on AWS to implement machine learning driven data products such as Recommendation, Personalisation, Search and Ranking. We have a fantastic opportunity for a Software Engineer to join the team and work on building and improving distributed and scalable services that process data in near and real time which enhance the shopping experience of our customers. You would be joining our talented team who are self-starters, driven, bold and who are excited about exploiting emerging technologies to enable our business to solve complex problems.

This position is full-time and based in our great office in Berlin.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the data product manager, data engineering and data science to implement scalable services which increase conversion and engagement and bring best user experience with data-driven products leveraging machine learning models.
• Apply your great software engineering skills to the project or feature being developed
• Develop validation frameworks, proactive monitoring solutions to detect any abnormalities in a proactive manner
• Review your peers’ designs and code to ensure quality
• Document work done to enable knowledge sharing
• Proactively innovate with suggestions shaping up an effective feature roadmap that continues improving and expanding our suite of data products

Requirements

• University degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or a related area
• 3+ years of relevant software engineering experience
• Preferably, 1+ years experience working on Machine Learning driven Ranking, Recommendation, Search services and infrastructure
• Expertise in designing highly-scalable and performant micro-services and storage layers using common frameworks, languages, and infrastructure (e.g. Scala, Play, etc.)
• 2+ years of working Scala experience
• Experience with AWS, Spark and Search Platforms is highly preferable
• A passion for emerging technologies
