CTO - Chief Technology Officer

Ambitious missions - like revolutionizing medical education - require key people to make them happen. That’s why it’s about time for a CTO at Miamed. With your tech and leadership expertise, you will establish our company’s technical vision and lead all aspects of our technology development. You will also help us tackle our big tech challenges: building cross-functional teams and a smooth agile development process, deciding about the technological future of a monolithic platform with multiple target audiences and increasing Miamed’s attractiveness for tech talent.

YOUR JOB

• Lead the technical strategy for our platform AMBOSS to ensure alignment with its business goals
• Discover and implement new technologies that yield competitive advantage
• Work closely with Product, Marketing, Business Development and Operations to define and improve our product for different audiences
• Build, develop and retain high-performance engineering & IT teams
• Implement an agile software development process with your Engineering teams
• Foster a culture of constant improvement in your teams and beyond
• Develop, track and control budgets for tech purchasing, staffing and operations
• Manage and optimize infrastructure assets to satisfy financial targets
• Identify, compare, select and implement technology solutions to meet current and future needs and use stakeholders’ feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments to technology
• Oversee the Office IT infrastructure and company-wide software for employees
• Identify public speaking opportunities and act as a Miamed tech ambassador to attract tech talent

YOUR PROFILE

• 10+ years relevant professional experience (esp. web & mobile development)
• BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field; MBA or other relevant graduate degree is a plus
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written and with tech and non-tech audiences
• Proficient German and English language skills
• Strong interpersonal, leadership and organizational abilities
• Experience with building high performance teams and implementing agile methodologies
• Interest in public speaking
• Successful in fast paced and quickly changing environments
• Technical expertise in web systems architecture, design and development
• Knowledge of technological trends to build strategy
• Understanding of budgets and business-planning
• Ability to conduct technological analyses and research
• Strategic thinking
• Problem-solving aptitude
• A passion for medicine and/or e-learning is a big plus
• Kind, warm-hearted personality
