Technical Writer (API/Developer Documentation)
Description
Who we are looking for?
You will be a technical writer/author with experience of writing complex, technical documentation deliverables in a software development environment. You may be a developer with a flair for writing or an experienced technical writer with in-depth knowledge of software technology and APIs. You’ll be able to manage your own documentation projects, including planning, writing, and editing, through to on-time delivery.
We'd like you to have a track record of professional technical writing and editing experience in a high-technology software industry. If you have a developer background but have a keen interest in learning how to write technical documentation, we'd like to help you on your technical communication journey.
This job would suit a strong team player with a “can-do” approach. You should be a self-starter with a desire to show ownership and commitment to the job. You’ll enjoy an informal office culture and a fairly flat organization.
What is the role?
As a Senior Technical Writer, you’ll be part of a small but thriving documentation team with responsibility for producing Alfresco technical documentation. You’ll create high-quality Alfresco product documentation primarily for a software developer audience, describing complex software architectures and how to develop software applications using the SDK, APIs, and developer tools.
What do we want you to do?
- Create documentation for a developer audience, including API references, tutorials, and developer guides
- Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, test engineers, and technical support engineers to create documentation
- Manage your own documentation projects, including scope and schedules, to deliver high quality documentation on time
- Write using high-quality technical documentation standards following structured writing techniques
- Represent the “developers’ view” of Alfresco products and best practices in documentation development
