We are looking for a Head of International Markets for our office in Berlin


Your mission as a Head of International Markets will be to grow Babbel’s footprint in Canada, Australia, Poland and a range of other countries. You will be enabling learners from Vancouver to Auckland to speak in their new language of choice through the world’s top grossing language learning app!


You will


  • Define the growth strategy and associated marketing plan for Babbel's International markets region
  • Provide local consumer insights to inform marketing plan & investment decisions
  • Lead & develop the International Markets team made up of 6-8 channel and CRM managers (dotted line) and a country performance manager (solid line).
  • Manage the P&L of the region, including steering the development of revenue, subscription base, brand awareness and all localization efforts in order to maximize advertising efficiency
  • Distribute & approve the marketing budget per channel to optimize user acquisition and retention
  • Lead or sponsor market-specific multi-channel communication campaigns
  • Coordinate with Brand Management, Product Marketing and PR for campaigns as well as the Growth Strategy team for new market launches
  • Coach channel managers with regards to the execution of all marketing plans locally
  • Support channel leads on hiring decisions for the International markets region.
  • Share knowledge with fellow Country Managers
  • Report directly to the Director of International Growth

You have


  • 6+ years of experience in (online) marketing, user acquisition, consulting and/or business development with strong international exposure
  • Full fluency in all aspects of spoken & written English (a must), with additional French language (a plus)
  • Ideally resided in Canada, Australia for extended time, with a strong understanding of the local culture, language and business norms
  • Superior quantitative skills combined with strong financial & marketing planning capabilities
  • Comprehensive understanding of the current trends & technologies in online marketing (a plus)
  • Entrepreneurial start-up attitude, hands-on mentality, high motivation and willingness to learn.
  • Willingness to travel on business on a quarterly basis
  • Previous experience with an online and/or subscription business model (a plus)
  • Previous leadership experience (a plus).
