About the Role

We are looking for a world-class software engineer to join our back-end team. Our mission is to maintain the stability of the Houzz site for our growing number of users. Our team is working on building systems that will scale with the millions of homeowners, professionals, photos, and products on Houzz. Critical projects will focus on the ongoing development of Houzz.com’s website functionality and platform, developing breakthrough functionality for Houzz’s award-winning mobile apps, and assisting in setting platform infrastructure technical directions.

What You'll Do

Build infrastructures that the entire Houzz product is built upon

Scale infrastructures and platforms to handle ever-growing traffic and feature sets

Maintain and improve reliability of the Houzz site

Measure and optimize performance of production systems

At a Minimum, We'd Like You to Have

Proficiency in web application programming (OOP, Java, Python, LAMP)

Good understanding of Linux, storage systems, network protocols and web services

B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent

Ideally, You'll Also Have

Extensive knowledge and experience with large-scale, distributed systems

Experience with AWS, cluster management and security protocols
