This position will be on the front lines for promptly responding to third parties contacting Houzz about legal issues, including IP infringement, and responsible for general support of the legal team. This is a full-time position based in Houzz’s office in Palo Alto, California.

The Legal team empowers Houzz’s growth while protecting the company from liability. We work with every team at Houzz, across all of our offices.
The Ideal Candidate
You roll up your sleeves to get work done where it’s needed.  You identify areas of improvement and proactively address them.  You pride yourself on your attention to detail, time management skills and ability to stay organized.  You are very familiar working with Service Cloud or other support ticketing systems. The ideal candidate doesn't need to be a lawyer but should be familiar with and interested in intellectual property law, especially the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act).  
Responsibilities
  • Review and process all incoming reports of IP infringement worldwide and escalate to an attorney when appropriate. 
  • Monitor social media channels for content that infringes Houzz IP and file takedown notices with those platforms. 
  • Create and send out cease & desist letters with legal guidance and track their status.
  • Address or manage escalations from our global Support and Community teams, e.g., account owner conflicts.
  • Work with our global Support and Community teams to develop policies, practices and help center content to address legal issues.
  • Create and update external legal content and internal legal processes.
  • Handle other legal projects or matters as needed, e.g., contest rules.
  • About You
  • You have at least 2 years of experience in handling IP infringement takedown notices in-house.
  • You are an effective communicator -- verbally and in writing. 
  • You pay attention to detail and have strong organizational skills.
